Nebraska law requires that the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality must certify those who pump septic tanks.
Why? Septage has some risks. It has the potential to harm human health and to pollute the environment if handled improperly. Also, when wastewater backs up into a home or surfaces in the yard, a pumper is often the first person a resident calls for help. Part of a valued customer service is being able to explain how a system works in simple terms to customers and to give ideas for how to maintain a system.
