Corn Growers Sought for On-Farm Research Network NEW Online Chemigation Training Available At This Web Site Previously certified chemigators can become recertified by participating in the training program online, although the test must be completed at a specified UNL Extension Office. The program consists of a registration section, nine chapters of printed material with video clips, training manual and calibration workbook, internet links to equipment distributors, and a testing site. The online training program can be completed at one sitting or over a period of time but producers should not initiate the training program until after January 1 of the year their certification is due to expire. "Blue Water, Green Water and the Future of Agriculture" The 2012 Global Water for Food Conference will bring together experts from around the world to discuss how advances in science, technology and policy will help rainfed and irrigated agriculture sustainably feed an increasingly hungry and thirsty world. Registration is open for the May 30 - June 1, 2012 event to be held at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln, Neb., USA. Weather Camp: June 11-15, 2012 A week-long day camp (9am-5pm each day) for students age 11-14 at the time of the camps. Campers will make their own weather observations, meet forecasters at the National Weather Service, learn about the local weather of Nebraska from tornadoes to blizzards, visit the office of Emergency Management, learn about storm preparedness, learn about weather and climate related careers, and visit a TV weather studio to watch the news and weather live in the studio. Omaha Stormwater Best Management Practices Tour June 14 The UNL Stormwater Team will sponsor this tour highlighting new green infrastructure BMPs. This will be a great opportunity to see how people across Omaha are implementing Low Impact Development. More information coming in mid-May.
