Animal Industry Advocacy Connections
Livestock production and local communities have a strong relationship. Promote the support and engagement of the local communities to the livestock production sector is part of the work of several programs and institutions in Nebraska:
- Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska (A-FAN) works on the outreach and promotion of Nebraska agriculture to consumers. Between its objectives, A-FAN works on facilitate to locate, modernize or expand animal operations in the state; encourage the development and community support to agriculture and food processing industries; and to be a link between Nebraska leadership and agriculture and food processing companies willing to work in Nebraska.
- We Support Ag (WSA) has as a mission “to work to increase the understanding of and appreciation for animal agriculture and modern production practices, and to bring transparency to entities with agendas which ignore science and threaten farm families, global consumers, our way of life, and Nebraska’s economy”. WSA projects are contributing to share the importance of livestock production in Nebraska to the community.
- Several state livestock and commodity organizations are working on building advocacy connection between the livestock sector and consumers and local communities in Nebraska. Between them we can mention: Nebraska Pork Producers Association, Nebraska State Dairy Association, Nebraska Cattlemen Association, Nebraska Poultry Industries, Nebraska Beef Council, Nebraska Corn Growers Association, Nebraska Soybean Board, others.
