Water Conservation Demonstration Gardens in the Panhandle
The University of NE-Lincoln Extension, the South Platte Natural Resources District and the Cheyenne County Commissioners and Maintenance Personnel worked together to establish two gardens for the community of Sidney, NE to learn more about low water use plants adapted to the local climate. Plants are labeled for easy identification.

South Platte Natural Resources District Office Xeriscape Demonstration Garden Address: 551 Parkland Dr., Sidney, NE This garden was established in 1995 and features several native plants, as well as non-native plants adapted to drier climates and higher elevations. Sidney's annual precipitation is 16" per year and the elevation is nearly 4000 ft. |
